Rick Springfield arrested on suspected DUI

Rick Springfield was taken into custody Sunday in California after sheriff’s deputies suspected the singer was driving under the influence.

According to the Associated Press, at approximately 8pm, sheriff’s deputies pulled over Springfield after observing him speeding in his 1963 Corvette along the Pacific Coast Highway in the Malibu area.

After stopping the singer, deputies reported smelling alcohol on Springfield’s breath, reports the Los Angeles Times.

The 61-year-old was arrested after a field sobriety test and breathalyzer confirmed a .10 percent blood-alcohol level, spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Steve Whitmore said. California’s legal limit is .08.

The singer was transported to the Malibu/Lost Hills Police Station and was released Monday at 2:10am after posting $5,000 bond.

Springfield is set to appear in court on July 5.
