Ricki Lake Can't Believe She Was Fat
After losing 140 pounds from her all-time high weight of 270, former daytime talk show host Ricki Lake said she could not believe she spent most of her life overweight, according to People magazine.
"I can't believe I was a fat person for most of my life," Lake said.
The 40-year-old added that she lost the weight the old-fashioned way through diet and exercise.
"I didn't have surgery and I worked hard. There's no secret. I'm active. I watch what I eat," Lake said. She added that she has meals delivered by a company called Fresh Dining.
The mother of two said she is not immune to the pressures of Hollywood to stay thin, but she also does not want to feed the obsession to be thin.
"According to Hollywood standards, I'm not a thin girl. I'm a normal girl," Lake said. "I don't want to perpetuate that obsession but yet I am also guilty of wanting . . . to lose weight."
She added that she will be extra careful this holiday season since she wants to look her best for her upcoming book and documentary debut.
"I will be really conscious because I have this book coming out and I want to look great," Lake said. "I don't need to lose anymore weight. [But] I don't want to go backwards. So I'm not going to pig out this Christmas."
