Ridley Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio to Tackle "Brave New World"

Ridley Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio's "Brave New World" project picks up momentum.

The dystopian classic "Brave New World" long has been of interest to Ridley Scott and Leonardo DiCaprio, and now a film seems to be in the works.

Although Scott has shown an interest in "Brave New World" and DiCaprio's Appian Way owns the film rights to the novel, the news of the film were rumors until recently. "Apocalypto's" Farhad Safinia is set to write the script and production executives have been working on the film's development.

Reuters reports: "The studio details as well as DiCaprio's personal involvement always have been murky."

Aldous Huxley's 1931 classic is set in the 26th century in a dystopia where birth is strictly regulated, the family no longer exists, and humans are divided into five castes.

Although dystopian stories have not had much success in the film industry, Reuters said, "Scott is considered one of the few who can pull it off," especially considering the cult success of "Blade Runner."

Although there has been no confirmation from Scott or DiCaprio, Scott has no definite projects beyond "Robin Hood" and DiCaprio has no movies lined up after he finishes filming Christopher Nolan's "Inception."
