Rihanna joins Mary J. Blige on ABC soaps
One announcement about an R&B songstress making a soap opera cameo wasn't enough for ABC this week.
The network announced Thursday that 18-year-old superstar Rihanna will be appearing on "All My Children" on July 28. Rihanna shot her scenes Wednesday in New York.
The reggae-pop singer will be playing herself, walking down a red carpet with reporters who are also playing themselves, ABC said.
Rihanna's appearance will also include her performing songs from her latest album "A Girl Like Me" at the show's fictional club ConFusion in Pine Valley.
Rihanna's debut album was certified platinum thanks to last summer's party anthem "Pon de Replay." She also hit the No. 1 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 this year with her single "S.O.S."
Meanwhile, Mary J. Blige will make her cameo on "One Life to Live." Like Rihanna, Blige will play herself and perform at a fictional town nightclub. Blige's episode is also airing July 28.
