Rihanna to make acting debut in 'Battleship'

Britney Spears, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, and Christina Aguilera all have done it, and now Rihanna is following in their footsteps and crossing into the acting world.

According to People.com, Rihanna is set to star in the movie Battleship. The movie is reportedly based on the traditional Hasbro naval-combat board game.

Battleship will also star True Blood’s Alexander Skarsgard and Friday Night Lights actor Taylor Kitsch.

Variety.com reports, on Monday Rihanna's acting deal was closed, but her role has not been confirmed.

Rihanna has had a very successful singing career. The 22-year-old singer has had three platinum albums, A Girl Like Me, Good Girl Gone Bad, and Rated R. She is currently touring for her album Rated R which has five hit singles. Rihanna collaborated with Eminem for the song “Love the Way You Lie” which is currently at number one on the Billboard Hot 100.

Hopefully, Rihanna’s acting career will be as successful as her singing career. Battleship is set to open in May 2012.
