Rihanna Scores Second No.1 on Billboard's Hot 100
R&B singer Rihanna hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 today with her single, "Umbrella." This marks the singer's second time atop the charts, the first was last year with her hit single, "S.O.S." According to billboard.com, the song sailed up the charts from No. 44 to No. 1, due to an impressive 277,000 digital sales. The song is the first single from Rihanna's upcoming third album, Good Girl Gone Bad, scheduled to hit stores on June 5.
In other chart news, Maroon 5, who currently have the No. 1 album in the country with their latest release, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, slips from No. 1 to No. 3 with their current single, "Makes Me Wonder." Black Eyed Peas front woman Fergie has Billboard's "greatest gainer" for the week with her new single, "Big Girls Don't Cry," rising from No. 21 to No. 8, marking her fourth top 10 hit from her 2006 solo disc, The Dutchess.
Fresh from last week's American Idol finale, winner Jordin Sparks debuts on the charts at No. 15 with "This Is My Now." Not far behind her is runner up Blake Lewis at No. 18 with his take on the Bon Jovi classic, "You Give Love A Bad Name."
