Rob Zombie to Direct "The Blob" Remake
Apparently, everything is old can be new again. It's true for fashion and especially true for movies. Rob Zombie, the director of the revived "Halloween" franchise, is set to write, direct, and produce a remake of the 1958 horror movie, "The Blob."
In the original movie, the Blob is an alien substance that absorbs any humans who touch it and consequently grows, to the horror of the 1950's movie audiences. Zombie has some plans to change the story in order to scare the 21st century viewers.
"My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing -- that's the first thing I want to change," Zombie said to VARIETY. "That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now."
He has already begun writing the script and production on the film will begin spring 2010. The budget is expected to be around $30 million.
Zombie's last directed feature, "Halloween II," opened on Friday to less than favorable reviews.
