Robert Pattinson’s cringe-worthy ‘now you’re pregnant’ joke that no one understood

Eclipse swept the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday, taking home such awards as Best Male and Female Performance, Best Kiss and Best Movie.

During the acceptance speech for Best Fight, Robert Pattinson made a joke that fell flat.

While bantering with a pregnant Bryce Dallas Howard, she began: “I guess I should say I’m so sorry I tried to hurt you Rob,” Dallas Howard said.

Pattinson responded with: “It’s fine. I ripped your head off, and now you’re pregnant.”

The camera quickly cut to his girlfriend and co-star, Kristen Stewart, mouthing “what” and covering her face in embarrassment for him.

Co-star Xaiver Samuel shrugged his shoulders to Dallas Howard as she just smiled, after the joke. But the two stars admitted to MTV News they really didn’t understand the “pregnant” joke either.

"That was a really advanced joke," Bryce said. "I didn't get it,” she admitted.

Samuel, however, had a theory that Pattinson was trying to reference vampire sex depicted in Stephanie Meyers’ books.

"I'm not sure what..." Samuel began. "I guess in Breaking Dawn Bella's pregnant, so I guess that's the joke?"
