Robert Pattinson takes his shirt off for "New Moon"

Robert Pattinson has been spotted filming a shirtless scene for the upcoming "Twilight" sequel, "New Moon," Entertainment Weekly reported.

The image will undoubtedly please all "Twilight" fans, as Pattinson can be seen with perfect six-pack abs and a lean physique. Blue dots cover his body, which are presumably there for the "sparkle effect" to be added during post-production.

The scene is being shot in Montepulciano, Italy. The climax in the book takes place in the fictional city of Volterra in Italy where the Volturi—the Vampire royalty in Stephenie Meyer's series—rule with an iron fist.

Accompanying shots of a topless Pattinson are scenes of Pattinson kissing co-star Kristen Stewart, which has given rise to a fresh wave of rumors regarding the relationship between the two, even though Stewart has a boyfriend.

Even though Pattinson's character is mostly absent in the book, producers have promised that he will play a bigger part in the movie.
