Robin to Get Pre-Batman Series
Well known superhero partner, Robin, is going to get a series all his own as the CW channel is fashioning The Graysons, a series that chronicles the life of Dick "DJ" Grayson in the days before he became Batman's sidekick, Robin.
According to the Los Angeles Times, "The series will be executive-produced by Smallville showrunners Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders, and Terminator: Salvation director McG. According to the article, it will deal with DJ Grayson's first loves and rivals and the network sees it as a potential replacement for Smallville, which followed the life of Clark Kent before he adopted the Superman persona."
The story line for the series has DJ dealing with young love, rivals and family dynamics. The episodes will be an hour long and there is no word on whether the character will follow the mythology set forth by DC Comics which had Grayson meet Batman, a.k.a. Bruce Wayne, following his acrobatic family's untimely demise.
According to E! News, "Robin was also the lead in Teen Titans, which ran as a kid-friendly animated series on Cartoon Network."
As to who is making the behind the scene decisions, McG is set to executive produce the pilot. His credits include the blockbuster, Charlie's Angels, as well as Smallville exec producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson.
