Robin Thicke arrested on drug charges

Singer-songwriter Robin Thicke was reportedly arrested in New York City Friday for possession of drugs.

Thicke, 34, was taken into police custody in Manhattan near Madison Square Park. Authorities saw him smoking a marijuana joint while in a black SUV.

"He wasn't driving," a police spokesperson said. “He was sitting in the car. He was arrested and a small amount of marijuana was recovered on him."

Another passenger was in the vehicle with Thicke but was not arrested.

The previous night, Thicke had performed at the Nomad’s Way gala to benefit education in Kazakhstan. Actress Sigourney Weaver hosted the event at the New York Public Library.

Thicke’s publicist did not issue a statement.

He has written and produced songs for such musical artists as Michael Jackson, Jennifer Hudson, Usher and Christina Aguilera. Thicke’s 2009 song “Sex Therapy” hit the top of the R&B charts. Love After War, his most recent album, was released in December.

Thicke is the son of Alan Thicke, who is best known for his role as Jason Seaver on the ABC sitcom Growing Pains, and Gloria Loring, who is known for her role on Days of Our Lives. He is married to actress Paula Patton, 36, with whom he has a one-year-old son, Julian Fuego.
