Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees Announced
Being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is easily one of the top honors an artist can receive, and sfgate.com reports that this year's nominees make up its most musically diverse list of nominees yet.
This year in the running is Metallica, Run-D.M.C., the Stooges, Bobby Womack, War, Wanda Jackson, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Chic, and Jeff Beck, representing everything from metal to hip-hop to punk to disco.
It is also interesting to note that the list consists of mostly new faces as only three (the Stooges, Jackson, and Chic) have been nominated before.
These are celebrated artists that have truly stood the test of time, as, to be nominated, their first single or album has to be 25 years old before an artist can become eligible.
The countdown is on until January's announcement to see who will rank top five after the votes of over 500 musicians, industry professionals, and journalists have been cast.
For the lucky five, the induction will then take place on April 4 in Cleveland, instead of New York where the ceremony has taken place for over the last ten years.
While going back to its Cleveland roots, the ceremony is also branching out, as tickets will be open to the public for the first time ever.
Congratulations are in order for those nominated, but honorable mentions are Bon Jovi and Stevie Ray Vaughan who were left out cold of this year's list.
Sorry guys, better luck next time?
