Rock Star: Supernova Elimination Show Recap

Carli Thorkelson
Since when does having the best performance of the night mean you'll be sent home the following day?

The show starts off with the usual asking of questions from Dave to the contestants. Nothing important to share. Jason informs us that Magni will be singing the new Supernova track. Again, another poppy song. Magni sounds good, but he's just so boring to watch. I'd buy his CD, but wouldn't pay to see him live. The person picked to do the encore also wins a Honda Element. That honor goes to Toby, even though Storm probably deserved it the most. This makes me think, even more, that Lukas is going to win. They wouldn't give Toby a car and pick him, would they? Toby dedicates his performance to "The Crocodile Hunter." I really wish he'd stop going into the crowd; it's getting old.

At some point throughout the night, all of the contestants were in the bottom three so everyone has to stand, which they all find hilarious. The first in the actual bottom three is Storm. The crowd boos and she yells, "Don't you want to hear me sing?!" Of course we do, Storm. We just fear this may be the end for you. She sings "Wish You Were Here" by Pink Floyd. Jason is bawling halfway though the song, not sure why. Storm loses it right before the end and tears fall down her face. When she finishes, she says, "That was for you mom." And this is when I start to bawl like a baby. You see, Storm's mom was schizophrenic and was in a hospital most of Storm's life. She died over a year ago. A truly moving performance. Dilana is next in the bottom. She sings Cheap Trick's "I Want You to Want Me." She hops around on one leg again and sings the punk version and I almost turn the channel, but the ending was OK. There is no way they are not sending her home! Lukas is the final person in the bottom and he sings his original from the previous night. He dedicates it to his mom and, again, does a terrific job. He should win this thing.

And now it's elimination time AKA the time I go into shock. Tommy can't even say it, so he makes Jason do it. They actually eliminate Storm and not Dilana! Dave says that he loves her original and can't wait to hear it on the radio. Storm says he's gonna love it because he'll be playing on it. Dave says he'll do it. Tommy says he wants to play drums and Jason raises his hand to play bass. So apparently the band wants to be the backup to Storm Large. I think she'll do just fine with her Balls (that's her band, Storm Large and The Balls). Storm thanks the fans for everything and says we'll see her again. I'm sure we will. Classy lady, that one is.
