A-Rod Divorces His Wife
Alex Rodriguez, the highest paid player in all of team sports, has finalized the divorce from his wife, Cynthia, just a short three months after she filed against the Yankees superstar.
The terms of the settlement were not disclosed, but each side said that their top priority was the welfare of the couple's two daughters - 3-year-old Natasha and 5-month-old Ella.
"This was and remains a personal family matter for both of them," said Maurice Kutner, lawyer for Cynthia Rodriguez, reading from a statement approved by the couple. "All of their decisions were based upon and guided by the best interests of their daughters."
The divorce was shortly preceded by rampant rumors in the New York papers that Rodriguez was having an affair with Madonna. Both have denied the romance, but Cynthia Rodriguez's divorce claimed that the All-Star repeatedly was unfaithful to her.
The good thing for Alex Rodriguez's checkbook is that the couple signed a prenuptial agreement nearly a month before their marriage on Nov. 2, 2002.
