Rod Stewart is Still Sexy
Veteran rock star Rod Stewart proves that he only gets better with age as his latest album released by J Records, "Stardust...The Great American Songbook: Volume III," snagged the number one spot on the U.S. pop album chart, beating out George Strait's "50 Number Ones".
Undoubtedly, Stewart welcomes this praise for the third installment of his album. His first "Great American Songbook" was titled "It Had to Be You... " debuted at number 4 in 2002 while the 2003 follow-up, "As Time Goes By..." came in at number two.
"Best of all for me is how much the public loves these albums, but I cannot deny that being number one has put a big smile on my face and a twinkle in my eye," said Stewart. "I feel boundlessly grateful that these miraculous songs continue to thrill, and tip my hat to the great talents who wrote the songs that have become the 'Great American Songbook."'
Stewart hasn't had a number one album since 1978 with "Blondes Have More Fun," which featured the equally successful and popular track, "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" Apparently, 25 years later, he still is.
The album has guest appearances by Eric Clapton who accompanies him on guitar on a cover of "Blue Moon" and Stevie Wonder who plays the harmonica on "What a Wonderful World".
