Rodriguez Says He and Madonna Are Just Friends

Though they are both in the middle of divorce proceedings and have been spotted in the same locations for months, professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez said there is nothing romantic between him and pop singer Madonna, according to People magazine.

When asked about his relationship with the 50-year-old pop star, Rodriguez responded, "We're friends."

The 33-year-old responded similarly when asked if there was any romance between him and Madonna.

"We're friends - that's it," Rodriguez told People magazine.

Various media outlets reported that the two traveled together to spend Thanksgiving with each other, as well as to meet up in Mexico. Rodriguez also denied those reports.

"I can tell you this," Rodriguez said. "I have never been on a plane with her."

The baseball star, who is currently in divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Cynthia, said the rumors printed about his relationship with Madonna are ridiculous.

"I've been to two concerts, yet I've read that I went to 20. I've also read that we were buying an apartment together," Rodriguez said. "That is absolutely ridiculous and not true."

He said keeping a sense of humor about the rumors helps him deal with the stories that are printed about Rodriguez, his family and Madonna.

"You have to have a sense of humor when it comes to this stuff," Rodriguez said.
