Rolling Stones Revisit Past, Release New Tracks

Forty years later, the Rolling Stones offer new tracks with the re-release of their iconic album Exile on Main Street.

Owing more taxes than they could pay, the Rolling Stones left England and moved to a rented home in Southern France. There they recorded their tenth album, an 18-track double LP considered to be one of their best.

Next week Exile on Main Street is set to be re-released including ten new tracks. An accompanying documentary Stones in Exile will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, according to BBC News.

Mick Jagger said that most of the new tracks were rediscovered while converting their tape store to newer media.

Most of the tracks were instrumentals recorded without Jagger, although he was on harmonica for some. He took these early recordings and finished them by adding lyrics.

The expanded version of Exile on Main Street will be available May 18.
