Rolling Stones Say B'Bye to EMI
Rolling Stones leave EMI for Universal Music Group.
In reviewing their options upon the renewal of their recording contract, the Rolling Stones are ready for some changes.
The New York Times reports that the band has opted to switch from their music affiliation with EMI music distribution in favor of Universal Music Group which currently is the largest major music distributor.
The band's move from EMI unsurprisingly comes after that of former EMI music mates Radiohead and Paul McCartney, who are no longer with EMI. The Rolling Stones' entire catalog will be distributed under Universal.
Still a huge, viable, recording and music touring commodity, the Rolling Stones' new deal is intended to extend the band's presence in digital new media, and other creative platforms.
