Rosie and Elisabeth Face Off on "The View"
The claws came out on The View when Rosie O'Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck butted heads about the war in Iraq. The pair have been in an increasingly tense standoff while Rosie's departure from the show approaches. The dispute this time took off over the topic of Iraq, but O'Donnell took it to personal territory when she expressed that she was upset over Hasselbeck's failure to defend O'Donnell during the soldiers/terrorists controversy. O'Donnell demanded that her co-host either confirm or deny whether she thought O'Donnell truly considers U.S. soldiers to be terrorists. Hasselbeck could not be forced to give a straight yes-or-no answer, however, and the dispute erupted into a catfight. O'Donnell threw out accusations of cowardice and slighted Hasselbeck with the slur "you Republicans." But Hasselbeck held her own, shooting back that she wasn't "poor little Elisabeth" and almost turning on Sherri Shepherd, who was guest co-hosting. Shepherd suggested that Hasselbeck calm herself for her baby's sake, whereupon Elisabeth sniped, "The baby's FINE." At this point, Joy Behar half-seriously suggested standing up and leaving the two to it.
