Rosie O'Donnell Leaves "The View"
After a year cohosting ABC's The View, the always outspoken Rosie O'Donnell is not returning for seconds. According to Brian Frons, President of Daytime-Programming for Disney-ABC Television Group, there had always been a realistic outlook on Rosie's time with the show. Simply having a year with O'Donnell was enough to make the effort to entice her back to daytime TV, he told ABCNEWS.com. He went on to explain that "key elements" in her contract could not be agreed upon.
According to Barbara Walters, co-executive producer and creator of the show, the split was not made on bad terms. She called Rosie a "cherished friend and colleague," and expressed her hope that the former cohost would reappear on the show often, in its second season.
O'Donnell has been a frequent headline fixture of late, what with feuding between her and Donald Trump (she called him a "snake oil salesman"), as well as rumors that she would be departing The View.
There's no word on her replacement yet.
