Nephew of Walt Disney Loses Battle With Cancer

Roy E. Disney, the nephew of Walt Disney, died on Wednesday. Clifford A. Miller, spokesman for Disney's company, Shamrock Holdings, stated the 79-year-old died of cancer.
Roy Disney's father, Roy Oliver Disney, was co-founder The Walt Disney Company and soon young Disney came to the company to work as a writer and producer. He eventually became a senior executive for the company and led two important investor revolts.
In 1984 he successfully ran Ron Miller, Walt Disney's son-in-law, from the company to prevent a takeover and then Michael Eisner in 2005. The details of the second has been made into a book: DisneyWar by James B. Stewart.
Roy E. Disney was born in 1930.
