The Rumor Is True - Ellen/Portia Married

Utilizing the new California law that permits same-sex couples to wed, Ellen DeGeneres, 50, and Portia de Rossi, 35, married on Saturday. For days, the press had been murmuring that the wedding would happen - correctly referring to them as one of the world's most famous lesbian couples. The nuptials took place around 8:30 on Saturday night, at Ellen's $29 million Beverly Hills estate. Only 30 close friends and family were permitted to attend the ceremony, all of whom were wearing summer formal attire.

DeGeneres and de Rossi have been together almost 4 years. For all this time, the paparazzi have found their relationship fascinating and worth daily updates, but the law forbade them to officially express their love. Then, on May 14 of this year, the California Supreme Court declared the State's ban on gay marriage unconstitutional. The next day, Ellen announced on her talk show that she and her girlfriend were planning a wedding. Later, though, she did admit that, "Planning a wedding is very stressful. It is crazy. My gardener is now invited." However, even though she did joke about the preparations for the wedding, DeGeneres was sure to add, "I can't wait to be married. I feel like it's long overdue."
