Ryan Reynolds is the Green Lantern

Reynolds has been chosen to star as the DC Comics hero.

Ryan Reynolds has been cast as the "Green Lantern." After a months-long search, Warner Bros. has chosen the actor to play the DC Comics hero in the studio's live-action film directed by Martin Campbell and produced by Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti, The Hollywood Reporter reports.
Reynolds entered negotiations for the part on Friday following two rounds of screen tests. Bradley Cooper, Jared Leto and Justin Timberlake were also in the running at this point.
De Line, Campbell and the studio each had a different favorite among the finalists, making the casting Hal Jordon a.k.a. the Green Lantern a difficult, and drawn-out, process.
When the deal is completed, Reynolds will be the only actor to play heroes for both Marvel and DC. He recently starred in Fox's "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" as Deadpool. Reynolds is attached to the spin-off in development.
According to Screen Crave, Reynolds has also been considered to play The Flash, another DC Comics character that has a live action adaptation still in development.
Production on "Green Lantern" is expected to begin in January of 2010 with a budget rumored to be as high as $200 million.
