Sally Field joins ABC drama as matriarch

Actress Sally Field will be staring in the new ABC drama "Brothers and Sisters" in the fall

According to Reuters, Sally Field has joined the cast of "Brothers and Sisters," an upcoming drama series on ABC.

The one-hour drama is about five adult siblings. Field will play their mother, Nora. The cast includes Calista Flockhart, Rachel Griffiths, Balthazar Getty, Dave Annable and Matthew Rhys as the siblings. Patricia Wettig, Ron Rifkin, Sarah Jane Morris and John Pyper-Ferguson also star.

"Brothers and Sisters" is set to air Sundays during the 2006-07 season.

Field's film credits include "Forrest Gump," "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Steel Magnolias." She has also won two Oscars for her performance in "Places in the Heart" and "Norma Rae." Recently, she has appeared on "ER" which has earned her an Emmy for guest actress in a drama series. She also appears with Reese Witherspoon in "Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde."
