Sam Worthington to Roam ‘The Fields’

‘Terminator: Salvation's’ Sam Worthington will next be starring in the Michael Mann-produced thriller, entitled ‘The Fields.’

Avatars’ Sam Worthington is set to star in the Michael Mann-produced thriller, entitled The Fields.

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “[Worthington] will play a Texas homicide detective who joins with a New York detective to investigate unsolved murders in the Texas bayous.”

Ami Canaan Mann will be directing the feature. She is daughter of Public Enemies producer Michael Mann, who will helm the film along with Michael Jaffe for QED and Forward Pass Inc. Ami Canaan Mann’s previous credits include writing for the 2002 television show, Nancy Drew, as well as an episode of the ABC police procedural drama, NYPD Blue. She also directed an episode of the NBC teen sports drama, Friday Night Lights.

The screenplay was written by Don Ferrarone and is based on a true story. Ferrarone was also the associate producer of several Denzel Washington-starring movies such as the 2009 remake of the 1974 film, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3, which starred Walter Matthau, the 2006 thriller, Déjà Vu, and the 2004 crime drama, Man on Fire.

The HollywoodReporter.com article goes on to say, “QED founder Bill Block will be selling international rights at the upcoming European Film Market in Berlin. CAA, which represents Michael Mann and Worthington, set up the project with QED, which is financing. QED and CAA are co-representing domestic rights.”

Pre-production has already started in Louisiana with shooting slated to begin in early April.
