Sam Worthington in Talks to Play Dracula in Upcoming Project

Sam Worthington has found himself a hero in some pretty impressive films lately. With movies like Avatar and Terminator: Salvation, you would think he would stick to the hero role, but now it would appear that Worthington is going in a different direction this time: He's going to be the most famous bloodthirsty Turk to ever walk the earth: Dracula.

The movie combines history with fact to tell the tale of the Romanian Prince, Vlad "The Impaler" Dracula. He wants desperately to save his homeland, and will do anything to do it, even sell his soul. He travels to the top of a Transylvanian mountaintop where dark forces give him the power to slay the invading Turks.

The director, Alex Proyas, has had a good deal of experience with darker fiction, as he directed Dark City and I, Robot. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the script, and this is their first movie script, but the pair is already slated to write the Flash Gordon reboot, due in a few years.
