Sanjaya's a Huge Hit at White House Dinner
The most popular man at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington Saturday wasn't the President-it was American Idol's Sanjaya. The 17-year-old singer was voted off American Idol last week, but his 15 minutes of fame don't seem to be up quite yet.
At the White House dinner, the longest line for autographs led to Sanjaya. He told Live with Regis and Kelly that he couldn't believe it when the Governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, told him he was a fan. What he didn't mention is that the Governor was initially shooed away from Sanjaya at the dinner. He was finally able to get an autograph after he exclaimed, "But I'm the Governor of New York!"
People magazine invited Sanjaya to the dinner, joining celebs and politicians alike. He told the magazine, "It's been really a whirlwind. I've just been trying to ride the wave and go one day at a time."
