'Saving Grace' to End in 2010

Fox New Productions will cancel "Saving Grace" in summer 2010.

Saving Grace, starring Holly Hunter, is coming to an end.

According to Zap2it.com, the TNT show will end its four seasons with nine episodes next summer. Of those nine episodes, six were planned to air early next year as part of the current season, and three have not yet been produced. The show joins the cancellation of "Reno 911," which ended its sixth and final season on July 8.

The Los Angeles Times reports that it was not TNT's decision to cancel "Saving Grace" but the show's producers', Fox Television Studios. The company was against TNT's desire to air a full third season and a fourth season and worried that the show would not earn enough money with reruns or DVD sales.

In a press release, Michael Wright, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies, said the show "has both challenged and entertained viewers in ways few other shows on television ever dare." HitFix said TNT made the announcement on Friday to end the Emmy nominated drama.
