Saw III dominates weekend box office

Saw III diced over the competition this weekend and the horror thriller took number one in the box office. The movie took in $34.3 million, its best opening weekend for the franchise.

Disney's "Prestige" slipped to number three this week after claming the top spot last weekend. "Prestige" has made $28.8 million to date, after bringing in $9.6 million this past weekend.

The mob tale, "The Departed" remained at number two for the third straight week earning $9.8 million at box offices this past weekend.

Clint Eastwood's war epic, "Flags of our Fathers" finished in fourth earning $6.35 million. The movie generated considerable buzz in the industry, but that buzz has yet to turn into box office success. "Open Season" rounded out the top five earning $6.1 million.
