Scorcese's New Stones Flick
Martin Scorcese is widely considered one of the best film directors of all time. In addition to films like "Goodfellas" or "The Departed," Scorcese has brought us rockumentaries like "The Last Waltz," a film of the last performance of The Band, or "No Direction Home," the definitive Bob Dylan biopic. He has also helmed many projects that showcase blues musicians.
His new music concert film is of the legendary British group The Rolling Stones, and it is called "Shine A Light," after the song of the same name from the 1971 album "Exile On Main Street."
Scorcese is quite obviously a Rolling Stones fan, as he has featured their songs on many of his films, including "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," in "Blow," and "Gimme Shelter" in "The Departed."
The Rolling Stones, who were mere youngsters when they propelled to stardom in the 1960s, are now all actually in their 60s.
The rock show takes place in New York's Beacon Theatre over two nights in Fall of 2006. Guests include Jack White from the White Stripes, Buddy Guy, and Christina Aguilera. It is set for an April 2008 release, having had its first release date postponed by Paramount Classics.
