Scorsese Signs Deal with Paramount
Martin Scorsese has signed a four-year, first-look deal with Paramount Pictures to direct various movie and television programs.
"I have had a great personal relationship with Brad Grey for several years now and am looking forward to working with him at Paramount, a studio rich in cinematic history and responsible for making some of my favorite films-Sunset Boulevard, Shane and The Heiress, among others," Scorsese said in a statement and reported by E! Online.
For the studio, having Scorsese on board means they will be able to attract top-level talent for years to come. It is Scorsese's first deal with a production studio in many years, according to E! Online.
The move by Paramount Chief, Brad Grey, is a reversal of sorts; he decided to cut Tom Cruise, saying the A-lister was costing too much.
"I wanted to create a home here for Marty. I believe that talent attracts talent, and we're honored to have him here," Grey told Daily Variety. "For the last year and a half, my priority has been to attract the best talent we can, both in front of and behind the camera."
