Scot-Free: Craig Ferguson Soon-To-Be U.S. Citizen
Craig Ferguson, host of the Late, Late Show and potential successor to David Letterman's seat, announced that last Friday he took, and passed, the United States Citizenship Test.
The Glasgow-born funnyman has been promoting his quest for citizenship on his CBS show for months, after he was granted an "honorary citizenship" by the town of Ozark, Arkansas after mentioning it on-air. Though it started at as a joke, Ferguson received honorary citizenships from 16,109 cities, towns, and even states across the U.S.
But Ferguson has at last taken the official plunge, reporting that "[the test] is very difficult, by the way." Ferguson brought a camera along to the Los Angeles district office of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, allowing his viewers insight into the process, his last-minute cram session of his "patriotic Q&A", and his general thoughts and feelings going into the test.
Ferguson has announced he will officially take the oath of citizenship sometime in the next few weeks.
