Former Scrubs star Sarah Chalke will reportedly star in a new comedy for ABC called How To Live With Your Parents For The Rest Of Your Life.
According to Deadline, the multi-camera/hybrid comedy, which is similar to the style of How I Met Your Mother, comes from the mind of Accidentally on Purpose creator Claudia Lonow. Like the CBS hit comedy that Chalke had a recurring role on, How to Live With Your Parents will not be filmed in front of a live audience and will feature more scene changes than your standard sitcom.
Chalke has been cast as Polly, a divorced single mother who lives with her parents, an eccentric couple who have no boundaries, according to The Hollywood Reporter. It will be produced by Imagine Television with 20th Century Fox Television. Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo will act as executive producers alongside Lonow, who will write the pilot.
Hit Fix notes that her recent credits include her stint on How I Met Your Mother and her last leading role was on the short-lived Mad Love for CBS. She has also been cast for a recurring role on this season of Cougar Town, which starts this month. The role will reunite her with Scrubs creator Bill Lawrence. Chalke starred on all nine seasons of Scrubs.
This is not the first time that ABC has cast Chalke for the lead in a pilot. According to Entertainment Weekly, in 2010, ABC cast her in Freshman. Hopefully How To Live With Your Parents fares better because Freshman, which was supposed to be about a rookie congresswoman who was good at everything but relationships, was never picked up.
