Foxsports.com has reported that former Atlanta Falcons head coach Jim Mora, Jr. will replace exiting coach Mike Holmgren as the next Seattle Seahawks coach. The official announcement should come at a press conference, scheduled for noon on Wednesday.
Mora seems to be the Seahawks' confident choice. He posted a 26-22 record in Atlanta, going 1-1 in postseason games.
Holmgren leaves Mora with a huge reputation to follow. Not only is Holmgren the winningest coach in Seahawks history, compiling a 86-68 record, he's also the only coach to lead them to the Super Bowl in 2005, before eventually losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
New coach Mora has only been to the NFC championship game during his tenure in Atlanta. He was let go by the Falcons after the 2007 season, after "leading" his team to a 7-9 record.
Well, if he doesn't succeed, hopefully he can bring his Dad to the locker room. That should make for some interesting press conferences.
