Seal and Heidi Klum have finally confirmed that they have decided to separate after eight years together and four kids, and many rumors making their media rounds.

The “Kiss From a Rose” singer didn’t waste much time commenting on the split, as he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, where he gave the daytime talk show host details on the separation.

"I think we were shocked," he told DeGeneres on the show, which airs on Tuesday, The New York Daily News reports. "You go into these things with the greatest intentions when you say 'I do' and you say ''til death do us part.' Those vows hold value. They are not just words."

He went on to say, “You try and you work through it and the thing that you quickly realize when you are married and you become a parent you do the best that you can," adding,"The thing I'm most proud about this great woman who I married (and I really do mean that from the bottom of my heart), is that together she has given me four incredible gifts ... four beautiful children.”

Seal added, "She still, in my opinion, is the most wonderful woman in the world."

The singer also explained that he will keep wearing his wedding ring because “I think it’s just pretty much a token of how I feel about this woman.”

Reiterating how he wants to stay “connected” to the former Victoria’s Secret model, Seal said "We will be connected in many ways ‘til the rest of our lives. ...Will we wear the ring for the rest of our lives? Who knows? But right now it feels really comfortable on my hand so I have intentions of taking it off anytime soon."

Seal also did an interview with PBS’ Travis Smiley, where he said, “What one has to do in this situation is to remain civil and to retain one's dignity and to be professional and to understand we are not the only people on this planet that go through this. It is just, unfortunately, a chapter of life,” E! Online reports.
