Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling Offered Roles in ‘Gangster Squad’

Warner Bros. has a new crime film in the pipeline and is eagerly looking for actors to fill in the roles of the gangsters. Sean Penn and Ryan Gosling have been offered to co-star in The Gangster Squad, that is set to be released in 2013.

The film focuses on Mickey Cohen. This notorious Los Angeles gangster became one of the most violent, feared and famous mobsters in the nation. He was jailed multiple times, including once at Alcatraz, for murder, laundering money and drug trafficking.

According to TotalFilm.com, Penn has been offered the role of Mickey Cohen. Gosling will be playing one of two key cop roles that chased the mobster in the 1940s.

Deadline informed that The Gangster Squad will be directed by Zombieland helmer Ruben Fleischer.

The two actors are currently in the midst of other projects. Penn will be seen in the film Tree of Life, alongside Brad Pitt. As for Gosling , he is filming The Ides of March with George Clooney.
