A Second Haiti Telethon Airing Tonight
Haiti still needs help. A second telethon, BET’s “SOS Saving Ourselves: Help for Haiti,” will continue to raise funds for relief efforts, MTV reports.
The telethon will be aired on BET, MTV, VH1 and Centric at 8 p.m. tonight.
Queen Latifah, Pharrell Williams and Diddy are co-hosting the event, with all funds going toward Haiti relief efforts such as C.A.R.E., Project MediShare, and Wycelf Jean’s Yele Haiti Foundation, per MTV.
According to MTV, musical performances include Drake, Chris Brown, Nas, Pitbull, Monica, India.Arie, Common, Missy Elliot, T-Pain, Damian Marley, Akon, Keri Hilson, Akon, and more.
The event is taking place at Miami’s American Airlines Arena, MTV says.
The previous Haiti telethon, George Clooney and MTV’s “Hope for Haiti Now,” was a monster success. MTV says around 83 million viewers tuned in and more than $61 million was raised.
Let’s have another triumphant telethon because Haiti’s struggles are far from over.
