Semi-Pro Wins and Loses

As predicted, the goofball comedy Semi-Pro took the box office this weekend. According to Reuters, the movie should make 15.3 million dollars by the end of tonight.While Semi-Pro won the box office it still seems to have suffered from an upset, as it came in well below expectation. Reuters says that the movie was expected to make at least 30 million. It might have been a failure because of its R-rating. It seems only 41 percent of its viewers were under 25. It also was not well received by audiences. Critics said that the film was like every other Will Ferrell movie and it seems the audiences were ready for Will Ferrell to learn to do something else that would make them laugh.Last week's top film, Vantage Point, came in second at the box office with 13 million dollars. The children's movie, The Spiderwick Chronicles held onto 3rd with 8.8 million dollars. Fourth went to The Other Boleyn Girl in its opening weekend with 8.3 million, however it made the most per theater as it was not a wide release. And finally rounding out the top 5 was Jumper with 7.6 million dollars.
