Sequel for Ironman Due Summer 2010

Same superhero, new supervillains.

New characters are in store for Iron Man 2, which is set to release May of 2010. Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are in negotiation to play the villains, reported Reuters.

Rourke is said to take on the role of Crimson Dynamo, a large, tattooed, red-armored Russian with lethal, technologically-enhanced tentacles. Rourke has had some experience working in comic book films, having played the burly bouncer, Marv, in the 2005 Sin City.

Rockwell, who currently stars in Frost/Nixon, will play the part of Justin Hammer, a multi-billionaire businessman and rival of Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, who will again be played by Robert Downey, Jr.

Gwyneth Paltrow will reprise the role of Iron Man's assistant, while Don Cheadle will replace Terrence Howard as the superhero's best companion.

Jon Favreau, director of the first Iron Man film will also be directing the sequel, using a script written by Justin Theroux. According to Reuters, the first film, which was released in April, made $582 million worldwide.
