Authorities in California continue their investigation in the murder of a man, whose head was found in the Hollywood hills earlier this week.

According to CNN, 120 police officers continue to search the area where the severed head of a man, who they estimate to be between the age of “40 and 60 years old,” and has “salt and pepper hair.” In addition to his head, the man, who police officials report they cannot release the name of at this time, hands and feet were also found. However, police claim that the Hollywood hills are not the scene of the crime.

The Reuters reports that Lieutenant Andrew Neiman informs that police “have identified the victim but we have not released that.” Investigation in the matter is still ongoing.

Interestingly, actor Brad Pitt’s home is set in the Hollywood Hills, and as per protocol, all neighborhood personal must be questioned. Los Angeles Police commander Andrew Smith informs, "It's standard procedure for us to have our detectives canvass the neighborhood.” Smith also informs that, “The bodyguard saw nothing unusual.”

CNN reports that Lauren Kornberg, who was walking her golden retriever, Ollie, at the time, assumed at first that the head was a “prop.” She comments, “Our assumption was that there was always people filming up there, and it was a prop. We walked down the ravine and got closer and realized it was a freshly severed human head."

Smith notes that had the women not been walking their dogs, “we may not have found" them. Smith also states that whoever committed this crime went to great lengths to hide the severed appendages.”
