Severus Snape has been declared as the winner of MTV's Harry Potter World Cup contest.
Media Bistro reports that 7.4 million people voted for one of the 64 characters. MTV reports that it was a close vote between Snape and Ron Weasley.
MTV asked Alan Rickman, the actor who played Snape, what he will miss about his character.
“I won’t really miss anything because it’s been such an extraordinarily complete character to play,” he replied. “To go back…I don’t know what the scenario would be. It’s been so much about he appears to be one thing and then you find out a bit more about him as time goes on.”
Upon hearing about his victory, Rickman expressed in disbelief, “You're lying, aren't you? Well, thank you, and it doesn't weigh nothing. Is it chocolate, I hope? Thank you very much."
When Rupert Grint, who plays Ron Weasley, was informed about Snape’s victory, he said, “I knew it. It's the right choice.”
