Sex and the City: The Movie

HBO hit series to receive the big-screen treatment.

The girls of "Sex and the City" will reunite once more, this time on the big screen, writes The Guardian Unlimited's Owen Gibson. The HBO hit series enjoyed 6 years of popularity, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, and Cynthia Nixon as the four best friends living in New York City. "Sex and the City" took a refreshingly unflinching and yet humorous look at relationships, earning the show both popular and critical acclaim. The series received more than 50 Emmy nods during its run. Now the movie rumors have surfaced, becoming fact Thursday with Variety magazine confirming that production will begin in the fall.

"Sex and the City" is partially based on a Candace Bushnell book of the same name. The movie will see all four ladies: Parker, Cattrall, Davis, and Nixon, reprising their on-screen roles. New Line Cinema is heading up the project in conjunction with HBO. Rumors of a big screen outing for the friends first began with the series' ending in '04, but it seems that pay disputes with Cattrall and Parker stalled the project, writes The Guardian Unlimited.
