According to Warner Brothers, the film version of HBO's long-running television series took in an unexpected $55.7 million.
Apparently, Sex isn't just good, it's great!
Sex and the City far exceeded industry expectations, which expected the film to perform like The Devil Wears Prada, a romantic comedy that took in $27.5 million.
In an even more surprising twist, Paramount's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull dropped to second place with $46 million. Debuting in the third spot was Universal's new horror flick, The Strangers.
