Sexiest Man Alive to Host Oscars
Hugh Jackman, People Magazine's current "Sexiest Man Alive," is scheduled to host the 81st edition of the Academy Awards this upcoming February.
Jackman, the Australia star and Australian-born actor, has experience hosting award shows after hosting the Tony Awards in previous years. With positive results after his Tonys performances as host, hopefully, he will bring that talent to the 2009 Oscar stage. Jackman has never been nominated for an Oscar himself, but he has received much recognition for his film roles. Past recent hosts include, Ellen DeGeneres, Jon Stuart and award show veteran Billy Crystal.
The Academy Awards committee is drawing up plans in the event of a Screen Actors Guild strike. The union will know in January whether or not a strike will take place.
With last year's low Oscar ratings, hopefully Jackman will bring the life back into the awards show. The Oscars is set to air on February 22.
