Sexual Assault Victim Lara Logan Leaving Hospital Today in ‘Remarkably Good Spirits’

The CBS News correspondent is expected to be reunited with her two young children Wednesday

CBS News’ Lara Logan, 60 Minutes’ chief foreign affairs correspondent, will be released from a U.S. hospital Wednesday and reunited with her two daughters.

Sources familiar with Logan’s recovery tell TheDailyBeast.com’s Howard Kurtz that she is in “remarkably good spirits,” despite the traumatizing events that transpired in the Middle East.

The network disclosed Tuesday that the highly respected television journalist suffered a “brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating” last Friday.

Logan was separated from her crew by a frenzied mob of more than 200 people while she was reporting on the protests in Cairo.

While CBS has stated that they will not comment further about the horrifying incident, an unidentified individual close to the situation has notified the Wall Street Journal that it was “not a rape.”

The insider added that the prolonged sexual assault and beating lasted for 20 to 30 minutes. Logan was rescued by a group of Egyptian soldiers and women.

The South African reporter was drawn to Tahrir Square to witness protestors rejoice over Egyptian president Hosni Mubarek’s resignation.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Lara Logan. We wish her a full and speedy recovery.
