Shailene Woodley would wear pajamas to award shows if she could

Shailene Woodley has successfully transitioned from TV actress to film star. The 20-year-old Secret Life of the American Teenager actress made her big screen debut in The Descendants alongside Hollywood heavyweight George Clooney.

The Descendants has garnered much praise and recognition and is a much-talked-about film this awards season. While awards season is in full swing, that means many events and many red carpets for Woodley. She admits she’s not that into fashion, so she’s grateful for her hair and makeup team and stylist when it comes to big events.

“I’m not a girlie girl at all. I never wear dresses. I’m always in either long, baggy skirts that I can still do 'crisscross applesauce' in, or blue jeans,” she told Malibu Magazine. “I’m very lucky to work with a stylist who cares about fashion, because I don’t at all. And I’m very lucky to have a makeup artist and hair guy who are really good at what they do, because I would go to events with no makeup and no hair and in pajamas if I could.”

She adds, she’s not concerned with fashion because there are other things she’s passionate about than just being a glamorous movie star.

“It’s all so exciting. … I don’t find it nerve-racking; I don’t find it overwhelming, I think, because I’ve chosen to be myself within the process,” she added of award season. “Obviously, I’m going to wear a dress to go to the Golden Globes; I’m going to be respectful. But I’m not going to let my life revolve around it, because I have other things in life that I’m passionate about, too.”
