Shania Twain Is Latest "American Idol" Guest Judge
The list of guest judges filling Paula Abdul's former spot on "American Idol" keeps getting longer and the latest name to join the panel is country superstar Shania Twain.
MTV.com reports that Twain will join Randy Jackson, Simon Cowell and Kara DioGuardi for the second round of Chicago auditions on August 30 and 31 to pick which hopefuls will get a coveted golden ticket to Hollywood.
Producers still haven't settled on a permanent replacement for the departed Abdul, but Fox Entertainment Chairman Peter Rice told reporters at a press conference at the beginning of the month that Abdul would eventually be replaced permanently, but that Fox was waiting to find the right candidate.
"What we need to find is someone who has great chemistry. . . . Our job in the next four to five months is to really consider what makes this the most fun and the most entertaining," Rice said. Other guest judges filling the spot in the meantime include singers Mary J. Blige and Katy Perry, as well former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.
"Idol" season 9 is set to premiere in January.
