Shaquille O'Neal's Wife Files For Separation
Va'shaundya O'Neal, wife of basketball player Shaquille O'Neal filled for legal separation in Los Angeles on Monday. She will eventually seek a divorce. The papers cited "irreconcilable differences" for the break up.
Va'shaundya is seeking sole custody of their four children ranging in age from 3 to 9 with visitation for Shaq, 37. She is also looking for an unspecified amount of money for child support.
Complicating matters, Va'shaundya flew out to LA and claimed herself a resident of California a day before the separation papers were filed. California has a more generous community property divorce law than Florida.
The couple was married for seven years. It is their second split. Shaq filed for divorce in 2007 in Miami-Dade County in Florida. The last split involved a bitter dispute over whether or not he hided money from her. The couple later reconciled. There is a prenuptial agreement in place.
