Shatner Not Invited to Takei Wedding

Captain Kirk angry at Mr. Sulu for not being invited to one of California's first legal same-sex ceremonies.

William Shatner has posted a video on his Web site Wednesday where he lashed out at his Star Trek costar, George Takei. According to the Associated Press, Shatner apparently harbors a grudge with him. Takei has blasted Shatner for his vanity on the set of the cult sci-fi series in his memoirs.

On his video, Shatner urges his former cast mate to reconsider his bitterness towards him: "He and I don't have many years left on this world."

Takei and Brad Altman tied the knot Sept. 14 at the Democracy Forum of the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. Other Star Trek alums, Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig, were among the attendees at the multicultural ceremony at the Japanese American National Museum. Nichols and Koenig played Uhura and Chekhov, respectively. Takei and Altman had previously stated that Shatner was invited to their wedding, but he never RSVP'd.

Takei responded, "It is our hope that at this point he joins us in voting no on Proposition 8, which seeks to eliminate the fundamental right for same-sex couples to marry in California."

Takei is currently a recurring character on the NBC show Heroes, as Kaito Nakamura. He has also made several appearances on The Howard Stern Show. Shatner can be seen on Boston Legal.
