Shatner's Stone Worth Big Bucks
Kidney stones are not just mounds of pain and calcium deposits, but a charitable fundraiser as well. Shatner agreed to sell the stone on GoldPalace.com.
Shatner is giving the $25,000 to charity Habitat for Humanity (most famously known for building houses for those in need.) The $25,000 will be accompanied by another $20,000 that was raised by TV show "Boston Legal," in which Shatner stars.
Passing kidney stones has been rated only second to child birth in terms of pain. Shatner stated "it was just unbelievable and it made you think about what pain is," last August on set of a filming of "Boston Legal."
Reportedly, the stone is big enough to wear on your finger as a type of bone bling. Shatner even jokes, "if you subjected it to extreme heat, it might turn out to be a diamond."
GoldenPalace.com tried to buy the stone for $15,000 originally, but was turned down, because Shatner felt the stone could raise more money (reminding them that Star Trek memorabilia has sold for more than $100,000.)
Shatner's stone is not the only bizarre collectible on the site. There is a half eaten grilled cheese sandwich said to have the Mother Mary's image burned into it.
